Australia beat West Indies by 6 Wickets T20 World Cup

Australia continued its rampaging form and beat West Indies by 6 wickets to kick them out of the semifinal race in ICC Twenty20 World Cup. Australia and England are now considered as the most favourite teams to win the World Cup.

West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. A lot was expected from Chris Gayle, who had scored 98 against India. But he made just 4. West Indies never recovered from the shock and bowled out for 105 in 19 overs.

Ramnaresh Sarwan was the top scorer with 26, while Chanderpaul made 24. For Australia, Steven Smith took 3 wickets. Mitchell Johnson and David Hussey took 2 wickets each.

Chasing a victory target of 106, Australia romped home in 16.2 overs with 6 wickets left. They made 109/4. Brad Haddin was the top scorer with 42, while David Warner scored 25. Steven Smith was declared “Man of the Match”.

The Super 8 stage is over now. England, Pakistan, Australia and Sri Lanka qualified for the semifinals. England will take on Sri Lanka in the first semifinal on Thursday and Pakistan will meet Australia in the second semifinal on Friday.
