(25-11, 15-20 ATS)

Purdue Boilermakers
(26-7, 19-11 ATS)

A spot in the Sweet 16 will be on the line in the Windy City on Sunday night, as the VCU Rams engage in March Madness betting action against the Purdue Boilermakers.

Head Coach Shaka Smart is one of the best young up and coming coaches in the entire country, and many think that his two wins for the Rams might have him in line for a Big Six conference job at the end of the year. Virginia Commonwealth makes no apologies about the fact that it is going to put the blitz on you for the full length of the court for the full 40 minutes. There is just no such thing as a play off. The ‘D’ ended up holding the Georgetown Hoyas to just 38.5 percent shooting from the field and 19.2 percent from downtown. Of course, VCU didn’t shoot that well on two point baskets, going just 6-for-19, nor did it shoot that well from the line either, going just 26-of-39. However, knocking down 12 huge three pointers on just 25 attempts was the big time difference. Brandon Rozzell had six of those triples, and he ended up scoring 26 points on the game. Joey Rodriguez had 17 points, while both Jamie Skeen and Bradford Burgess both had a dozen.

Purdue came out of the blocks on fire against the St. Peter’s Peacocks in its first game in March Madness betting action, and it just coasted from there. The Boilers had a double digit lead right at the first media timeout, and they led 33-17 at halftime. The reps from the Metro Atlantic had an absolutely dreadful offensive day, shooting just 29.3 percent from the floor, and though there weren’t all that many great plays for Purdue, it was more than enough ‘D’ to win this one going away. There were just no answers for anything that JaJuan Johnson was doing on Friday night. He shot 6-of-16 from the field and scored 16 points with 16 rebounds. E’Twaun Moore scored 19 points, but he also turned the ball over seven times, something that will not make Head Coach Matt Painter a happy camper, especially knowing that this is a high pressure defense that he is going to be playing against on Sunday. Lewis Jackson had a nice game as the third scorer on the club, putting up a dozen points on 4-of-5 shooting.

The luck for the Rams is going to run out in this one. There are only so many games that you can play in this short of a period of time at that type of intensity, and VCU has hit that point. Purdue knows what is coming its way in this one, and the Rams won’t have any answers when things start to go wrong. Back the Boilermakers for the big time ‘W’.
