The host Bangladesh youth cricket team will meet with Nepal to make sure the semi-final in the

first quarter-final on 5th Friday of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. The match venue is set at

Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.

 

Bangladesh ended the first round ranking the top of Group A for three consecutive wins and

confirmed their position in the quarter-final. While the Nepali youth cricket team qualified for the

quarter final being a runner up from Group D though they lost against India on Monday.

Bangladesh started their U19 World Cup journey by beating the defending champion South

Africa by 43 runs and also made their first win against them in any U19 World Cup history.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto did a brilliant knock of 73 off 82 balls and judged Man of the Match in

that battle. In the second group match, Bangladesh got an easy victory over Scotland of 142

runs for the consisting batting performance of Shanto. His 113’s innings made it simple to score

Bangladesh 256 and the bowlers also done the brilliant job. Finally, Bangladesh met with

Namibia in their last group stage match and made a strong domination over them by taking an

eight wickets superb victory on 2nd February.

 

On the other hand, the Nepali U19 Cricket team made an inspiring 32 runs win over mighty New

Zealand, a test playing U19 Cricket nation like in 2006. That match boosted the psychology of

the whole team a lot and the impact was showed on their second Group stage match against

Ireland where they did not give any chance to score big. The leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane

made a hat-trick and took 5 wickets only the cost of 27 runs that broke the batting backbone of

Ireland only scored to 131. Nepal won that match by 8 wickets and moved to the path of the

quarter-final. Nepal faced India in their last group stage match but failed to put a strong fight

and lost by 7 wickets tough they confirmed the quarter-final for being the second runner up of

Group D.

 

Both teams are eager to defeat each other in the coming quarter-final and looked very much

confident. “ The last relaxed victory made us more hungry than before and we are now hoping

to beat Nepal and then go semi-final and final by the by”, Saleh said in a press conference.

Nepal also hopes to do a good fight with Bangladesh in the quarter-final.

Hope to enjoy a good battle between Bangladesh and Nepal in first U19 World Cup quarter-final

on Friday.
