Luis Suarez, one of thhe best players on the pitch in the world, has certainly made Barcelona a better team since his arrival in July 2014, but that doesn’t mean that the 29 year old Uruguay International doesn’t miss playing in front of the fans in Liverpool when he played for the Premier League team.
Liverpool sold Suarez to Barcelona for an incredible 75 millions pounds, which Liverpool former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers thoroughly believes was worth it for Barcelona FC.
Rodgers seemed to reflect the sentiment Suarez feels about his old squad saying, “Luis is enjoying it out there at Barcelona, but I think if he did ever come back there would certainly be only one club he’d want to play for.”
The star front linesman has said before that if he ever returned to England to play, it would be for Liverpool.
“He absolutely loved it at Liverpool, the supporters adored him and he gave absolutely everything,” said Rodgers.
Rodgers had nothing bad to say about Suarez, and believes he is certainly among the world class of players you expect to see playing for the elite teams in the English Premier Leaague and La Liga in Spain.
“Barcelona was an incredible move for Luis, and it’s such a great credit to him that his move made an already world-class team even better.”
The move to acquire Suarez has definitely paid off for Barcelona, who continue to be one of the most dominant teams in the world, as they have seemed to be for quite some time.
In fact, Barcelona has been so dominant, during last season the trio of Suarez, Messi, and Neymar set a Spanish record for the most goals ever in a season by any trio of teammates at 120 goals total. That record beat out Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain of Real Madrid, who held the previous record of 118, set in the 2011-2012 season.
With the frontline of Suarez, Messi and Neymar still intact, Barcelona is once again boasting one of the most impressive front lines in the entire soccer world.
While Suarez has expressed that if he ever returned to play in the Premier League, the only team he would want to play for is Liverpool, fans of the club shouldn’t get their hopes of a return anytime soon.
As long as Suarez continues to play at this level, Barcelona is unlikely to have him depart from La Liga at any point in the immediate future.
