George Strait’s Reign at the National Finals Rodeo

George Strait has always been a staple at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. He coincides two nights at the T-Mobile Arena with the National Finals Rodeo every single year to support the event and so he can attend a few nights of rodeo. This year George Strait is playing two nights at the T-Mobile Arena on December 7th and 8th and it will certainly be a memorable concert. The concert is already sold out but you can get tickets on secondary sales markets such as Stubhub. The National Finals Rodeo is December 6th through the 15th so Strait is performing in the middle of the event to all of his fan’s delights. 15 of the top rodeo cowboys in their respective categories will be competing for over $10 million in prize money.

Strait has a long history with rodeo and is known as one of the last true cowboy country musicians. Strait had his own team roping event for 18 years called the George Strait Team Roping Classic. The event was held outside of San Antonio at a rodeo venue called the San Antonio Rose Palace but Strait has put the property up for sale and canceled all team roping events as of June 2018. There was no reason listed why the event was canceled or why Strait put the property up for sale.

Strait has made it a point to perform at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo over the past few years. There are not a lot of pure cowboy country artists left in the industry that can sell out arenas but Strait is still one of them. He embodies the pure cowboy spirit and carries that ruggedness in his swagger and his music.

“Country music for the most part doesn’t necessarily mean the singer is a cowboy. It does with George. He ropes. He rides. He starches his Wranglers the way they should be. His Resistol is shaped just right. He could walk offstage and enter the team roping somewhere. That is why real cowboys are drawn to him and his music. He just looks like one of us up there, singing the kinds of songs we can sing along with. Real country by a real cowboy. Unapologetically!”  – Flint Rasmussen,  PBR’s official entertainer.

Country music fans and cowboys go together better than peanut butter and jelly. Rodeo fans are huge George Strait fans and they are more than happy to support Strait and enjoy his two night stand in Las Vegas. Cowboys are struck by Strait’s attitude and the fact that he is the same guy that he has been since the start of his career. Strait’s personality and the way that he presents himself resonates with many of the rodeo fans that are present at the National Finals Rodeo.

“Strait has lived the authentic cowboy lifestyle, and that comes through in his delivery of some of the greatest songs on the subject.” Says PBR rider Cody Nance, “I feel like George Strait has made such an impression on  the world of country music in many ways, but mostly by keeping the cowboy way alive.”

Make sure that you get your tickets to see George Strait as soon as possible before the prices get too high. George Strait is one of the premier country acts and he has sold over 60 million albums worldwide. You will not be disappointed if you buy tickets to his concert as he performs his biggest songs of his career and puts on a show for all of his fans. The only issue is that Strait’s concert will fall during two nights of rodeo so you will have to sacrifice a night or two of watching rodeo if you want to go see Strait live in concert.
